It was great to see Sir Maximilian run such a good race at Meydan this week.

I will admit to being disappointed with his initial effort in Dubai, when he beat just one home in the race won by Htoto.

However, I have learned over the years to forgive a horse a run like that, especially when it was his first effort in alien conditions.

This time around he was drawn better and in a race with no mad early pace, he raced and traveled more kindly.

But for a slight bump a furlong out, he might have been another half length or so closer.

Overall though, I was very pleased and I am looking forward now to running Sir Maximilian in another sprint handicap on the turf on Thursday 19th February.

I should put on record my thanks and appreciation to Dawn for looking after Sir Maximilian in Dubai. She is a credit to herself and the yard with her professionalism.

Thanks too to Paul Wildes for giving me a second crack with Sir Maximilian, and hopefully we can all enjoy an exciting 2015.
