After a few near misses this month, and with Sir Maximilian running so well at Meydan earlier in the day, it was a relief to see Ballyfarsoon win at Wolverhampton.
Confidently ridden by Aaron Jones, Ballyfarsoon defied a 6lb rise in the weights for this win over two miles.
In a race with little early speed, Aaron sensibly kept this son of Medicean close to the front and from the home turn, the result was never really in doubt.
Any winner is welcome, but a winner for my landlord, Pat Kelly, is always a pleasure. Pat has put a lot of time, effort and money into making the Dominion Racing Stables such a great place to train racehorses.
Hopefully the handicapper won’t be too hard on Ballyfarsoon and we have the option of dropping back in trip at Chelmsford City next Wednesday.
Chelmsford is now the only UK track at which I have not saddled a winner, so the Essex track is on my radar!
