Finn Russell got off the mark by making all the running at Wolverhampton under a positive ride from Jim Crowley.
His spell over hurdles looks to have toughened Finn Russell up and he put his head down when under pressure in the final two furlongs.
The favourite, Girl From Italy, challenged last inside the final 150 yards, but was held by a length at the line.
