After posting five placed efforts since his last win, Ferryview Place found his way back to the winners enclosure when recording his third career win at Wolverhampton and then half an hour later Moulin Rouge joined the ‘three wins club’ as she showed her love of Dunstall Park.

Only Kempton provided the backdrop for more flat winners in the last year, so Wolverhampton has proved a fruitful course for my flat runners in recent months.

The headlines, and rightly so, will be made today by the announcement that AP McCoy will shortly retire from race-riding.

AP is just the most incredible jockey of mine, or any lifetime, but the most remarkable sportsman.

I have been privileged to have been able to leg him up on plenty of winners over the years and he has always been the ultimate professional. Win, or lose, he makes time to give my owners a frank appraisal and honest review of their horses.

The above photo is of AP on Ballyalton at Cheltenham on a filthy day at Cheltenham in December 2013 when Ballyalton beat Garde La Victoire.

Others with a better way with words will more eloquently express the impact AP has made on sport and on horseracing, but the great thing we will all have is memories of great rides, and winners – and I would love to think I will be able to add another winner or two to AP’s role of honour before the end of April.
