The appearance of a new work rider has caused quite a stir amongst the male members of staff at the yard… Edie Campbell, the super model, has been up to ride work as she prepares to ride in the Magnolia Cup at Goodwood later in the month. Edie is an accomplished rider and won the inaugural running of the sprint charity race in 2011.

Edie has fitted in really well, giving as good as she gets when it comes to banter, and we will hopefully be able to find her a suitbale runner for the Goodwood race and make it a Cheltenham/Goodwood double in major charity races this race, having saddled Gifted Leader to win the the St Patricks Day Derby in March.

There seems to be a non-stop stream of Sales to attend at the moment, with the latest being the July Sales at Newmarket last week.

The market was strong for the better lots, and we were frustrated to be the under-bidder for Poole Harbour. He is a lovely looking sprinter who came from Roger Varian and he will be one to follow now that he’s gone to David O’Meara.

We came home with one newbie – All Reddy, who I manage to steal for a very decent price. He may well run in the colours of the newly formed Ian Williams Racing Club in the weeks ahead.

Make a note in your diaries for Sunday 7th September … this will be our Open Day at the yard, when, from 11am will be hosting a series of special events, including a parade of horses, an equine pool demonstration and a schooling session on the gallops.

Please contact Denise at the racing office if you would like to attend – all the family are welcome!
