Winner at Ascot and Goodwood next!
Horses never cease to amaze, surprised and delight me.
When See The Storm came back to Dominion Racing Stables in the middle of last month, we were just hopeful we could win a race again this summer. Six weeks later, See The Storm has posted three wins from four starts, culminating in a fantastic win in the Lady Riders race at Ascot on King George Day.
Katie Harrington is one of the top lady amateurs in Ireland right now, so it was a bonus having her services on Saturday, but even I was worried when she took up the running so far out – it wasn’t the plan!
But Katie kept her cool and balance and the result was never seriously in doubt, despite the small margin in the end.
See The Storm won’t be resting on his laurels this week – he travels down to Goodwood on Thursday to run in the Magnolia Cup.
This isn’t a race listed in the Racing Calendar, but it has important place in the Glorious Goodwood week, raising huge sums for charity and giving a group of intrepid lady riders a chance to experience the thrill of riding the downhill sprint course at Goodwood.
Super-model and accomplished equestrian rider, Edie Campbell won the inaugural Magnolia Cup in 2011 and is keen to win the race again, especially as she is a brand Ambassador for Goodwood this summer.
Edie has been a regular visitor to Dominion Racing Stables in recent weeks, and she had a sit on her Magnolia Cup ride See The Storm last week.
All being well on Thursday, Edie and See The Storm will click and make it another day to remember for everyone!
Elsewhere this week, I quite fancy Teak to outrun his odds in the opening race at Goodwood on Wednesday. If the rain stays away and the ground is genuinely quick, this stable favourite will be competitive.
