African Spirit deserved his turn after a consistent spell of form and got his head in front at Wolverhampton on Tuesday.

Owned by Mrs S J Brookhouse, the five-year-old had finished third on each of his last three starts and was again there to be involved when it mattered over a mile and half a furlong.

Billy Loughnane produced him with his challenge in the straight and African Spirit kept finding plenty to get the better of Dumfries by a head.

He has been showing us plenty of ability in recent starts and it was great to see him get the result his recent form deserved. Hopefully this can give him plenty of confidence and there is more to come from him.
