After winning the final race at York on Friday with Haliphon, Zealandia won the opener on Saturday under Alice Stevens – both horses having come from the same sale in France!

Zealandia was given a patient ride and didn’t start to get competitive until 3f out.

The leaders had gone hard off the home turn, so Alice looked to have got the tactics right and her mount was into 2nd with a furlong to run.

He stayed on well for pressure in the closing stages, coming home three parts of a length in front of Throne Hall.
