The favourite lands the opening race at Plumpton by over two lengths …. sounds simple and routine, but the bare facts scenes of drama at the final flight!

Sophosc has won seven times on the flat and carries a BHA mark of 72, which explains why he headed the market on his debut over hurdles.

All was going ok until the 2nd last when he wandered around and then at the drama started. Alioski fell and Sophosc was badly impeded, which meant he was a good three lengths down at the last.

Charlie didn’t give up and after hitting the front half a furlong out, he ran out a comfortable winner.

A fine effort by horse and rider!
