Taking a big drop down in class after running 5th in a Grade One at Aintree, Saint Riquier posted a decisive first success over hurdles at Warwick under Charlie Todd.
The likeable grey took the lead at the fourth last flight and Charlie then set him alight rounding the final bend.
He had a clear advantage when hitting the penultimate obstacle, but stayed on strongly to beat the favourite by six lengths.
