Earlier this month I had a landmark winner when Cruise Tothelimit won at Thirsk, thereby completing my full-house of having trained a winner at every racecourse in the UK.
It is an odd fact that of all my 850+ winners, none, until today, has been the outright winner of a two year old race!
Duke Of Rainford managed to force a dead-heat in a nursery at Haydock in July 2009 under Paul Hanagan.
But with Midtech Star landing the 5.50 at Wolverhampton, I have now managed a juvenile winner in my own right.
Midtech Star has been a great horse to deal with at home, showing plenty of enthusiasm for his work and progressing through the year.
He disappointed me with his debut effort at Thirsk. but there was a genuine excuse for that run. and his recent work showed he was back to his best.
This gorgeous looking son of Kodiac was picked up for 20,000gns by my assistant trainer, Richard Ryan, at the Sales last autumn.
