Maharajas Express got his head in front at Doncaster yesterday, winning the 5f handicap under David Probert for Mr S Bell.
He had been a good second at both Sandown and York on his last two starts, so it was pleasing to see him get his reward this time. David gave him a good ride, bringing him through to challenge in the closing stages, and he showed a good attitude to battle all the way to the line and win by a neck.
It was a much kinder day weather-wise at Doncaster than it was later at Bath – thankfully, we only had to contend with September weather rather than a full British winter!
It was a deserved win for Mr S Bell, and it was good to see Maharajas Express get his head in front after some consistent recent efforts.
