An ex-team Ian Williams favourite, previously owned by the Macable Partnership, CASHPOINT, is now the grand age of 18 and still enjoying life with proud owner Melissa and his alpaca companions.
During his racing career, he amassed a total of nine wins, a highlight of which included winning the Class 2 Zetland Gold Cup, he also picked up an overall total earning of £76,000.
Please read below to hear from Melissa about how CASHPOINT has adapted and excelled in his second career of dressage, far removed from his former education and occupation:
‘I was so lucky to rehome Cash, he’s an absolute superstar and definitely a horse of a lifetime! It became apparent very quickly that he had star quality, and a cheeky personality to match.
We retrained him in dressage, and he had his own way of making that lots of fun with lots of bucking and prancing around at home and in warmups – I always had to make sure he was wearing a neck strap!
But when he was in those white boards, he was a genuine showman. 2017 was his first year of British Dressage, we travelled all over England and he amassed 74 points, qualified for the Petplan Area Festival Finals and Thoroughbred Championships in Prelim, and was placed 7th in his first Prelim Area Festival.
In that year we were also selected as ambassadors for Bedkind bedding company. In 2018 he competed at Novice and trained at Elementary, taking his total BD points to 82, he also did lots of hacking and trips to the gallops and in 2019 he was retired to the field.
He is now a very much-loved field ornament, living with alpacas and he has toned down the cheeky behaviour mostly and has given in to lots of strokes and nose kisses, as long as carrots are involved.
He is my heart horse.”
