Thanks to Fergus Cameron, the ever helpful clerk at Wolverhampton, I was able to take Sir Maximilian to Dunstall Park this morning for his final strong workout before he ship to Dubai next Tuesday.
Since his win at Dundalk, owner Paul Wildes has been keen to run his star sprinter at Meydan and I believe he is just the type of horse who could run really well at the Carnival.
I have initially mapped out three races for Sir Maximilian at Meydan, starting with the five furlongs sprint handicap on the turf on Thursday 8th January. This race has a handicap band of 100-110, so with his current rating of 108, this race is perfect.
There are then further suitable races on 29th January and 19th February, and his programme after that will be dependent on how he gets on after this initial trio of outings.
Sir Maximilian is a straight forward, high class sprinter who is best suited coming off a strong pace, and will full fields likely for his type of race at Meydan, I am optimistic that he will perform well at the Carnival.
