The evergreen Cashpoint is set to fly the flag for Dominion Racing Stables in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Challenge Handicap at Ascot.

This is a £20,000 mile and a half handicap for horses rated 0-95 and the nine year old Cashpoint is set to carry nine stone, nine pounds.

Cashpoint has won or been placed in half his career starts, and has an impressive 25% win strike rate.

This season, despite his veteran status, has been his most productive, winning the historic Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar and then landing a conditions race at Deauville.

Cashpoint has the pace to win over ten furlongs, but also has a two mile bumper win and two successes over 12f on his CV.

Ian Williams said: ”Cashpoint is a pleasure to train. His enthusiastic owners, have enjoyed a memorable season, with Cashpoint winning twice, so anything else is a bonus. There aren’t too many nine year olds rated 90 on the flat, but because he’s relatively lightly raced, it is not impossible that he can win again off this mark. He goes on any ground, and I am very happy to have drawn Hayley Turner to ride too.”

Teak is currently the second reserve for the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Stayers race, so it will be a little bit of a surprise if he can make the final field, but you never know!

Teak gave me and the yard a magical moment at Goodwood ten days ago when he won the marathon Goodwood Stakes.

Ian said: ”Teak has come out of his Goodwood race in great form. He is a total professional and a real favourite in the yard. Teak is a horse who really enjoys fast ground and with the ground drying at Ascot, it could be that conditions are ideal on Saturday – if he gets a run.”
