Having made a host of entries earlier in the week, my Saturday squad will be five strong.

My best chance of a winner is See The Storm at Newbury in the Class 3 Handicap over 7f run at 3.15pm.

What a few weeks we’ve enjoyed with See The Storm!

Coming back to me in June, he won on his first run at Chepstow (class 5) off a mark of 65, and then went on to land a Redcar handicap (class 4) off 69 before going to Ascot under a penalty to land the Ladies Race on King George day, this time over 7f.

As he was so fresh and well, we then took See The Storm down to Goodwood and under super-model, Edie Campbell, he won the Magnolia Cup over five and a half furlongs. That day was then made more memorable for owner Mike Keating, his daughter Trisha and grand-daughter Molly when Tom Cruise presented the trophies!

See The Storm is now asked to race off a mark of 80, 15lbs higher than at Chepstow, but I am sure he will be competitive. When horses get on a roll, it is hard to know what their ceiling rating is. We will take 5lbs off at Newbury by using George Downing.

Also at Newbury, we run Desert Recluse in the Lady Amateur Riders race (4.25)

Desert Recluse arrived from Brendan Powell in June. At his best, he was rated 92 and has won six times from 29 career starts. His wins came from 10f up to two miles and now racing off an official rating of 70. We are trying a visor for the first time at Newbury, and hopefully he can give Alice Mills a really good ride.

Cruise Tothelimit goes to Chester (3.45) and has dropped back down to his last winning mark (78). Apart from a blip on terrible ground at Thirsk two runs back, Cruise has been in consistent form, going close on numerous occasions.

He goes well around the Roodeye, his last two wins have been on the sprint track – he’s drawn well in stall 5 and has the very capable Megan Carberry taking 7lbs off his back.

You need a lot of luck to win a sprint at Chester, especially one with a double digit field, but granted a clear passage, Cruise Tothelimit can go close.

In the evening, we take two down to Lingfield Park.

Chellalla is a fairly handicapped mare off her current mark of 60, but whether she’s going to go close over the straight extended 7f is another matter – it is a competitive heat for the grade.

Ferryview Place (8.05) wants fast ground to show his best. Since his win at Nottingham, he has been the model of consistency. We tried different tactics at Windsor last time over a longer trip, but I think 10f on summer going is ideal. The cheekpieces are back on, and I am hopeful of a decent run.
