The Statesman won well at Sandown on Wednesday and completed a quick double by winning under a penalty at Newmarket under Manuel Fernandes.
With the 7lbs Manuel took off today, The Statesman was well-in but, even so, this was a very smooth and impressive performance.
Always travelling well, he could be named the winner from well over 2f out, and he was an easy two and a half lengths winner.
