Sometimes Always for Simon Cox showed plenty of promise when runner-up at Ascot on his recent comeback and duly progressed to defy top weight in the IJF Handicap Hurdle at Wetherby under Charlie Todd.

Charlie had his mount prominent from the start and took the lead after the second flight.

He maintained the gallop all the way to the line, despite sloppy jumps at the final two hurdles, and came home six lengths ahead of Golden Robin.
