It has been a roller-coaster experience for Sir Maximilian over the last couple of months, but it all came good in the Meydan Sprint on Super Saturday.

Having disappointed on his Carnival debut back in January, he then ran a stormer on his second run. But there then followed a couple of flat runs, before he came back to form in a dramatic finish to the Group Three Meydan Sprint.

There were eight horses in the field with higher official marks than Sir Max, but with Caspian Prince setting lightning early fractions, the race set up for a closer and Kieren was able to produce his mount late in the day and get up on the line to deny his old foe Ahtoug.

The winning time was a blistering 57.1 seconds, which is 0.4 inside the standard for the 1000m on the straight track.

Sir Max has now won six races and over £230,000 in his career to date.
