Thanks to the super tough Teak and the progressive Drumlang, the yard enjoyed a fantastic double at Cartmel.
Robbie McCarth gave Drumlang a lovely, confident ride, using his mount’s jumping to keep him close to the pace, before hitting the front two out and after that just keeping him going.
Drumlang has been a wonderful servant and seems to be improving with age – that was his seventh win in total and his fourth over fences.
He loves summer ground, so we will see how he comes out of this race before making further plans, but he is definitely best on good or faster going.
What can you say about Teak?
He is real favourite in the yard and following on from his excellent debut over fences at Worcester earlier in the week, he stepped up in trip and down in size of obstacle to easily land a handicap hurdle at Cartmel over three and a quarter miles.
Like Drumlang, Teak loves good, fast summer ground, and granted such conditions, he will continue to be effective – either back on the flat, over hurdles or back chasing!
