Giselles Defence for Crown Racing defied top weight in the 10f Handicap at Newbury under Joe Leavy.
The 4yr old travelled well throughout and looked set for a comfortable win when taking up the running around 2f out.
But, the favourite started to get back into contention inside the final furlong and Joe had to ride his mount out to secure victory by a head.
