We were also delighted that Rupert Pritchard-Gordon was able to secure Zaribiyan, a typically Aga Khan-bred three-year-old by Medaglia d’Oro out of a Sea The Stars mare at the recent Arqana Summer Sale.

Still a maiden, Zaribiyan has run three times in France over the past six weeks, producing three respectable performances and earning a French rating of 77. He was a backward type as a two-year-old and sustained a small pastern fracture, which was successfully repaired with a single screw. The injury has healed completely, and the veterinary assessment, including recent X-rays taken before the sale, was very satisfactory. Our own vet, Buffy Shirley, was equally pleased with his examination and is very optimistic about his future.

The first thing we did after he arrived at the yard was to geld him, and he is recovering well from the procedure. He has now returned to cantering and is progressing exactly as we had hoped.

A tall, leggy, athletic horse with plenty of quality, Zaribiyan has an excellent temperament, moves well and has a very good attitude to his work. He looks the type who will strengthen and improve considerably with time, as so many Aga Khan-bred horses do, and we expect him to stay middle-distance trips as he matures.

He is now available for viewing, and we believe that anyone who comes to see him will immediately appreciate the scope and potential he possesses. He is a real strapping individual with an excellent action, and we’re very much looking forward to placing him with new owners and watching his progress over the coming seasons.
